It didn’t bother Macintosh users too much that the Macintosh version and the Windows version were divergent. Things were looking up, we seemed to slowly be gaining ground back with Inuit and getting more regular updates.

In November 2006, Intuit released an update to their Quicken software for the Mac, Quicken 2007 for Mac. So, clearly, I find value in the software, enjoy the software, and have been a loyal user of the software for many years. In fact, I’m pretty sure the only other piece of software I’ve been using as long on my Macintosh is BBEdit (I was a beta-tester for BBEdit back in the day). That’s 15 years of use and loyalty to a piece of software. I’ve used Quicken since at least 1995 (those are the oldest entries in my register in Quicken today, but I think I’ve used it longer than that) and I have over 6000 entries. I'm hoping support for this gets added soon as it's the one must-have feature for me before I completely switch to QM (well this and consistent bill pay).I’m upset with Intuit and I’m not sure what to do about it.įirst and foremost, let me get this out of the way.
One feature I sorely miss is the tracking of employee stock plans, grants, etc. Also the eBill downloads are hit-or-miss. It seems to occasionally create new payees at my bank instead of using the pre-existing ones. I'm using direct connect through my bank and not Quicken Bill Pay. I'm also not crazy about the way bill pay works. While much of the UI fits in on the Mac, entering and modifying transactions is just plain clunky. I wholeheartedly agree with your last bullet. I can quickly hit Command-Z to undo my mistakes. Note, that last part requires that you enable "Mark reconciled transactions as reviewed" in Preferences | General. After reviewing the information, hitting 'Next' and then 'Done', the account is reconciled, the transactions are marked "Reviewed" and the blue dot is removed. I then hit the reconcile button to reconcile the account to the online balance. So after an update, I can quickly see what was downloaded and modify the category if necessary. By default, downloaded transactions are marked "Not Reviewed" and have a blue dot to the left of their entry. But I changed my workflow a bit and now like the way it works in QM better. I too was missing the downloaded transaction approval of QW. QM has come a long way but it still falls short in some areas. Overall, I agree with /u/telladifferentstory. I did have an issue with the import and ended up upgrading my Windows version to 2018, exporting my file manually, then importing it into Mac 2018 successfully. My file has about 12 years of data in it. This isn't necessarily ideal, but I'm using them both side-by-side until I can trust the Mac version fully. Although I'm not crazy about the subscription, one positive is that it allows you to run both the Windows and Mac versions. I'm wondering if anyone else has switched? Thoughts?Īfter buying Quicken Mac 2016 a couple years ago and promptly returning it, I recently took the plunge on Quicken Mac 2018. Considering finances is a data-entry-heavy activity, this is a terrible design. The split window is difficult to navigate. How a user actually enter transactions is clunky. There's no scheduled transactions window? I don't understand this. How is this possible!? I do not want them being automatically folded in my register. The downloaded transactions don't pop up for "approval". There no way to exclude transfers in reports which makes them completely unusable for me. A couple of the biggest ones causing me problems right now are the following: 
Also, I now have my finances on my main computer and this makes me SO happy.Ĭons: it's still missing some really core features. The graphs and forecasting take only seconds (if even) to generate. It makes the Windows version feel so clunky.
This past weekend, I bit the bullet and bought the Quicken for Mac version.
I currently use a Mac and have an entirely separate Windows computer only for Quicken. Problem is, the only usable version of Quicken is the Windows version. I have been a Quicken user for more than 20 years now.
